The name CODA Studios, which is short for "Creative Online Design and Applications", opened their doors for business in August 2000, and have since serviced customers throughout Hawaii and the continental U.S. The company was started by Dan Andersson, an entrepreneur originally from Sweden, with a background in software engineering and a passion for visual arts. He started learning basic programming at the early age of 10, and began building webpages HTML and Java in 1995 during the infancy of the World Wide Web.

Starting out small, and despite doing no advertising, CODA Studios grew over the next few years purely by word of mouth. From talking to prospective clients, Dan found that many were unhappy with the services and attention they received elsewhere, on top of being charged outrageous rates. This only strengthened his dedication to provide excellent yet affordable web development services to the small businesses in Hawaii. And having spent almost ten years in Hawaii at this time, he knew that a business is not a good business without aloha.

So in 2005, Dan realized that running CODA Studios on the side while maintaining a fulltime job as a senior software developer was too overwhelming, and decided to dedicate himself to the company fulltime. They are still small in comparison, and prospective clients that contact them get a chance to see that friendly service, and the skilled people behind them, still makes a difference. Getting bigger will never change that in this company.
